Ashok is the Head of Compliance for American Express – International. He is responsible for the company’s Compliance strategy and program in over 140 countries. He and his team are responsible for expert advice, oversight and governance to ensure that American Express is adhering to all applicable laws and regulations and is maintaining positive relationships with country regulators. He is a member of the American Express Global Compliance and Ethics leadership team and the American Express Compliance Risk Management committee. 

Ashok has been working for American Express for the last thirty years, based out of New Delhi, Hong Kong and Singapore before moving to the US. In his career with the company, he has held roles as diverse as Marketing, Business Transformation, Business Planning & Strategy, Operational Risk and Compliance. In 2016, he took on the role of Head of International Compliance before being promoted to Senior Vice President. Prior to American Express, he worked in the advertising industry with companies such as Lintas and J Walter Thompson.

He is an active member of SALT, the Christian employee network in American Express. In the last two years, he played a leadership role in expanding the SALT network to American Express Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Mexico and the UK. He also serves as an Elder in his home church – The First Baptist Church of Metuchen, New Jersey.

Ashok has a Masters Degree in Management from Boston University. He and his family live in New Jersey. His personal interests include reading, movies, composing Christian music, playing the guitar, and traveling extensively with his family.
