Emily Liggett

Emily Liggett is the CEO of NovaTorque, a venture-backed company in Fremont, CA, commercializing high-efficiency electric motors. An engineer by training, Emily’s career has been in technology, both in established and startup companies.

Emily joined DuPont after receiving a chemical engineering degree from Purdue University where she enjoyed research, manufacturing, strategic planning, and customer technical support. She then attended Stanford University, earning an MSMSE and MBA.

After graduate school, Emily joined Raychem, a high-growth materials science company, completing assignments in sales and marketing, operations, and general management, including GM of Raychem Telecommunications in North Carolina, CEO of Elo TouchSystems, and Managing Director of Tyco Ventures (after Raychem was acquired by Tyco). Emily served as CEO of Capstone Turbine in Chatsworth, CA, (NASDAQ: CPST) and CEO of Apexon, a supply chain analytics software company, before joining NovaTorque in 2009.

Emily has traveled extensively, living in Switzerland, Australia, and Belgium. She has served on the board of directors of TouchPanel Systems in Tokyo, Textronics Corporation in Wilmington, DE, Immersion Corporation in San Jose, CA, (NASDAQ: IMMR), MTS Systems in Minneapolis, MN, (NASDAQ: MTSI), and UCT (NASDAQ:UCTT), as well as Today’s Youth Matters, a non profit.  She has served as a deacon, an elder, and as Director of Family Ministries at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church.

She married her college sweetheart David, another Indiana farm kid. Trained as a veterinarian, Dave now teaches science in under-resourced schools, and both Dave and Emily are deeply involved with youth. They have four adult children.
